Throughout Gold September, observed as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Child Aid Association (CAA) undertook a series of awareness initiatives across Karachi to educate the public about childhood cancer, highlight the importance of early diagnosis and encourage support for affected children and their families.
As part of these efforts, CAA organised a Walk of Hope at Bagh Ibne Qasim on September 12, 2026, in collaboration with the Pakistan Society of Pediatric Oncologists (PSPO), with participation from Umeed Parr. Childhood cancer survivors, families, healthcare professionals, CAA staff and supporters came together to raise awareness and express solidarity with children affected by cancer.
Other initiatives included a health radio programme featuring Dr. Uzma, awareness standees at Avari Towers and Beach Luxury Hotel, and flyer distribution to educate the public about childhood cancer, its warning signs and the importance of timely treatment. Awareness sessions were also planned for Karachi University, Dawood Public School and a government school in Shirin Jinnah Colony. Additionally, the #LightItUpGold campaign aimed to illuminate key monuments across Karachi in gold to amplify the message of childhood cancer awareness.
Through these initiatives, CAA continued its efforts to promote awareness, encourage early diagnosis and highlight the importance of continued care and support for children and families affected by childhood cancer.
